Komodo Tickets for Tourists 2026 — How Foreign Visitors Book Online

Komodo National Park is one of the few World Heritage Sites where every foreign tourist must hold an advance online ticket before entering. This guide explains exactly what foreign tourists need to know to book Komodo tickets in 2026 — without speaking Indonesian, without waiting in line at Labuan Bajo harbor, and without scrambling on the day of departure.

Why Komodo tickets work differently in 2026

From April 2026, Komodo National Park transitioned to a digital-only booking system called Komodo NP booking platform, operated by the Indonesian government’s BTNK agency. The harbor ticket booth no longer exists. Every foreign tourist — whether arriving as a cruise passenger, day-tripper from Bali, liveaboard guest, or independent backpacker — must arrive at the Labuan Bajo harbor with a confirmed digital ticket in hand.

The three ways foreign tourists actually get tickets

Option A — Direct via the Komodo NP booking mobile app

Download Komodo NP booking platform from Google Play or the App Store (~85 MB). Register an account using a passport number. Choose date, island, group size, ranger group. Pay via Indonesian methods. Walk on the boat with the QR code. Estimated time when everything works: 8–12 minutes. Estimated time when foreign credit cards fail: 2–3 hours.

Option B — Through a registered local tour operator

Tour operators with valid PNBP/SIUP licenses can book Komodo NP booking platform tickets on behalf of their guests and bundle them into all-inclusive Komodo trip packages. The traveler doesn’t need to download the app, register, or attempt the payment workflow. The operator handles the entire process and includes park fees in the package price.

Option C — A combination (DIY tickets + separate boat)

Some experienced travelers book Komodo NP booking platform tickets themselves and book the boat separately. This works if you speak Indonesian or have an Indonesian friend with a working bank app.

What it actually costs for foreign tourists in 2026

Park fees alone for a foreign visitor doing Padar + Komodo + Pink Beach + Manta in one day:

  • Entrance: IDR 150,000 (weekday) or 225,000 (weekend) per island per day
  • Conservation: IDR 200,000 (once per visit)
  • Ranger: IDR 80,000 (per group of up to 5)
  • Trekking: IDR 5,000 per island
  • Jetty: IDR 100,000 per departure
  • Snorkel surcharge: IDR 100,000 (per day)

Total: IDR 690,000–800,000 (approximately USD 45–52) — entirely separate from boat charter, food, and guide.

The foreign-card problem you need to know about

Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are not currently accepted by the Komodo ticket payment gateway. The most common workarounds for foreign tourists:

  1. Use QRIS via a compatible local Indonesian bank app (DBS Indonesia, OCBC NISP, UOB, certain Singapore/Australian bank apps)
  2. Have an Indonesian friend pay with their BRI Virtual Account and reimburse via Wise
  3. Let a registered local tour operator process the booking on your behalf

When tickets sell out (and what to do)

The 1,000-visitor daily quota fills fastest on weekends and during peak season (June–September). If your preferred date shows zero availability, try: alternative islands (Rinca instead of Komodo Island often has more space), shifting your date by one day, or contacting an operator with pre-allocated quota blocks.
